What is Awana?
Awana is an international,
Bible-centered children’s and youth ministry providing local
churches with weekly clubs,
programs and training for students. The acronym Awana comes
from the first letters of
Approved
Workmen
Are
Not
Ashamed
as taken from 2 Timothy 2:15. More than 12,000 U.S. churches
run Awana with programs in all 50 states. Awana can also be
found in over 3,900 churches in
109 other countries and six continents. Clear, consistent
presentation of the gospel • Bible memory – our cornerstone •
Circle games exclusive to Awana • A fun approach to learning
God’s Word. Most Awana nights consist of 3, one half-hour
segments; game time, handbook time and council time. During
handbook time they recite or work on memorizing Bible verses,
and during council time they meet to sing, have a story or
lesson from the Bible and hear announcements. During game
time we have various activities that center around a large
circle in our gym. |
